A News Item About Fonts!
I’ve long been a proponent of this…
This was an item in the Daily 202, a news summary newsletter.
I suppose Calibri is okay. Everyone has it. The problem with Times is that it was designed for (narrow) newspaper columns. That makes it somewhat hard to read when a line of text goes clear across a full page. Figure 75 characters is as long as you want a line of text to be. My preference is Century Schoolbook, which was designed with readability in mind.
Two Kinds of “Or”
“Inclusive or,” or “exclusive or.” See what happens when the kid gets it wrong:
“Inclusive or” includes both items as one. That’s how the kid interpreted the question.
Obviously, the teacher meant an “exclusive or” —one choice or the other. Computer people spell the “exclusive or” this way: XOR.
Make sure you’re clear when you say “or.”
A Comic I Identify With

How Many Mistakes Can You Count?
