Two Examples of Linguistic Change
We used to write it “e-mail.” Now “email” is permitted. The hyphenless version is now used in style guides. That’s in panel 2.
Now, in panel 3, we see him say “dot” instead of “period.” I don’t know of this usage in any style guide, but I’ve never heard any use other then “dot” in this context.
